Dementia Awareness Week

Solicitor Rebecca Hutchinson discusses Dementia Awareness Week 2017

This week is national Dementia Awareness Week. The aim is to raise awareness, encourage fundraising and offer help and support to those suffering as well as those affected by the disease. According to statistics, someone in the world develops dementia every 3 seconds, with the number of sufferers estimated to be in the region of 50 million in 2017[1]. Progeny Private Law is a proud supporter of Dementia Awareness Week.

Whether you are a sufferer or a family member or loved one of a sufferer, Progeny Private Law may be able to assist you with the legal aspects of dealing with the illness. It is important to ensure that your affairs are in order, not only for practical reasons but also for peace of mind and we can assist in preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Where a loved one suffering with dementia has not put in place a Lasting Power of Attorney and is no longer able to manage their own affairs, we can assist you in applying to the Court for a Deputyship Order to enable you to manage your loved one’s affairs on their behalf.

We also have experience of looking after the day-to-day affairs of those suffering with the illness, with Frances Davies appointed as professional deputy for several clients suffering with dementia.

Our team at Progeny Private Law has experience of dealing with those affected by dementia and their families in a sensitive and understanding manner. We understand the impact that dementia can have on sufferers and those close to them.

We are here to help and if you would like to arrange a meeting or if you would like any more information, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Rebecca is a Dementia Friend and Solicitor in Progeny Private Law’s team.
